The above vacancy has arisen within the R&D Mechanical Engineering department for a Mechanical design Engineer. The successful candidate will work as part of a team and will be working to tight deadlines, so a willingness to contribute proactively and an enthusiasm to learn are essential.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Design of mechanical components according to internal company standards
• Design of Printed Circuit Board layouts, under the guidance and support of more senior mechanical and electrical engineers
• Mentorship of junior engineers
• Writing/preparing Test Reports (therefore attention to detail is essential)
• Evaluating new designs for manufacturability and compliance with company standards.

Skills, experience  and qualifications:

• Experience in a comparable industry would be required
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering discipline
• Experience of 2D and 3D CAD modelling, prototyping. The ability to make clear accurate records of work done and produce reports is essential. Knowledge of mechanical principles is a must-have.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing.
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• High level of computer literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Full training will be given and there will be opportunities to progress within the department should the relevant experience and competency be met.

This role has a starting salary of £28,978 and the successful applicant will work a 37.5 hour week as below:

Hours of work: -             Monday to Thursday 7.45 am – 4.30 pm. 

                                       Friday 7.45 – 12.15 Noon.
