The series comprises of 300W (3U high half-rack) and 1,000W (3U high full-rack) power levels and either a 120Vdc or 500Vdc maximum rating. The units operate in 7 different load modes and 4 operating modes. This allows the user to perform up to 17 different load tests on DC power supplies, fuel cells, solar cells, batteries and components to fully characterise their performance.
The loads can be programmed for multiple load types, including constant current, constant resistance, constant power, external control, short circuit, and constant voltage with a current limit. The operating modes are normal, pulsed load (dynamic time and frequency), complex waveform generation and "sweep" to test and determine a product's voltage-current, overcurrent or power limit characteristics. Eight load settings can be stored internally.
Up to 10 units may be paralleled in a master-slave arrangement for higher power requirements. Multiple SFL loads can also be connected to separate devices for synchronised load control and dynamic operation. The series can be programmed using analogue or digital signals, with an optional ripple and noise measurement and IEEE interface.
The CUS350MP-1000 AC-DC power supplies are rated at 350W continuous and 1000W peak power output with convection cooling for applications requiring low audible noise or 500W continuous, 1000W peak power with forced air. The series is certified to IEC60601-1 3rd edition (medical), IEC62368-1 and IEC62477-1 (OVCⅢ) with compliance to the EN60601-1-2:2015 Edition 4 immunity requirements. With efficiencies of up to 94%, waste heat is reduced allowing the power supply to operate reliably in a compact 88 x 183 x 44mm package size. A 5V 0.3A standby voltage and remote on/off are fitted as standard. The high peak power rating makes the CUS350MP-1000 suitable for use in printers and other equipment utilizing DC motors.
The 500W, 1U, single output XMS500A is available in either class I or class II configurations. Both versions achieve class B EMC performance (both conducted and radiated) to EN55011 and EN55032. The whole range is certified for both industrial and medical equipment with BF ready medical isolation (1 x MOPP input / ground, 2 x MOPP input / output and 1 x MOPP output / gnd). Other features include a selection of standby and fan supplies, various case and fan options (including top fan for very low audible noise), remote on/off and dual or single fusing.
CHVM high voltage dc-dc converter modules offer output voltages of up to 2kV in compact SIP pcb mount formats. Output power is 1.4W to 3W depending on package and all units accept a nominal 12Vdc input. Remote on/off is standard and the output can be adjusted from 0.5% to 100% using an external variable resistor or applied voltage. CHVM offers extremely low ripple and noise performance (as low as 5mVp_p on a 1000V output) making them suitable for precision, noise sensitive applications such as photomultiplier tubes, photodiodes and other detectors and devices often employed in laboratory equipment such as scanning electron microscopes, X-ray fluorescence spectrometers, mass spectrometers and ultrasonic probes.
ZBM20 modules are ideal for providing short term hold-up or peak power for loads connected to 12, 15 or 24Vdc AC-DC power supplies. They can supply an additional 380ms hold-up at up to 448W. During normal operation, energy is stored in the ZBM20’s electrolytic capacitors. When the AC power is interrupted for a short period of time, the ZBM20 continues to power the load, allowing equipment to shut-down in a safe and controlled manner. The ZBM20-24 can be set to fixed or variable buffer mode. In fixed mode it will provide power when the input voltage drops to 22.4V, in variable mode when the input decreases by 1V. Multiple buffer modules can be paralleled for additional hold-up time. Product status can be accessed remotely via a DC OK relay, or opto-coupled signals. The output voltage can also be inhibited to avoid an unsafe discharge of the stored energy.
