Training & Development Advisor - 12 months fixed term contract – Maternity Cover

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the HR and Training Department as a Training and Development Advisor, reporting directly to the HR Director.

The successful applicant will be instrumental in working with the wider HR Team, focusing on internal and external training and development opportunities and requirements as well as acting as a partner with local schools, colleges and universities to lead STEM activity across the business.

A key part of this role will be to support the business in developing a talent development and attraction strategy going forward.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:

  • To act as a senior day to day point of contact within the HR and Training and Development Team, providing high level guidance and advice to team members and Leaders within the business.
  • Working with leaders of the business to ensure adequate training is given to all new and existing team members.
  • Mentoring and coaching team members on career progression where appropriate.
  • Advising business leaders on progression strategies for their team members and providing support.
  • Delivering in-house training and inductions for new employees and organising external training.
  • Management of work experience, T-Level and Placement Student programmes.
  • Ensuring all training records are up to date.
  • Be the superuser for all internal training programmes and databases.

Experience, knowledge and skills required:

  • A key aspect of this role will involve interacting with people on a daily basis, both internal and external via various communication methods, therefore, a confident telephone manner and excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills are essential.
  • As well as working as part of a team, the ability to work alone and being able to prioritise tasks is essential.
  • An expert working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) with previous administration experience is essential, previous experience of working in a HR/Training environment would be an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • The successful candidate must be approachable and demonstrate empathy, and will need to be able to uphold the strictest levels of confidence and be able to conform with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
  • Experience in a similar role is essential (manufacturing industry desirable)

Qualifications required:

  • Applicants must hold GCSE Maths and English at a minimum of Grade C or 4/5.
  • CIPD Level 3 Certificate in People Practice or working towards would be beneficial but is not essential.

This position starts at £28,978 working 37.50 hours per week.

Hours of work: Monday to Thursday – 7.30am to 4.30pm

Friday 7.30 am – 12 noon.

Flexi-time is applicable and flexible hours can be discussed at interview.
