Process Engineering Team Leader

Location : Ilfracombe

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Manufacturing Engineering Department, leading the newly created Process Engineering function.

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading a team of four engineers, providing support to the SMT, PCBA and Slade functions within the manufacturing, ensuring that all of the requirements of the production activities are serviced according to TLU procedures and to the high standards expected by the TDK brand.

A high level of collaboration will be required with the manufacturing, engineering and facilities departments as well as with other teams within MED and the wider business.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Planning and scheduling of work in accordance with departmental priorities
  • Supporting team members with their daily activities, including 6S and insisting on an excellent safety culture
  • Ensuring continuity of factory support through the planning of holiday requests, overtime, other absences and training requirements
  • Understanding and controlling the cost of support activities
  • Be an active member of the wider leadership team by openly sharing information, challenges and opportunities
  • Proactively engage and support colleagues in resolving problems in all aspects of the organisation

Skills and qualifications:

  • The ability to work as both part of a team and alone without supervision is essential
  • Desirable attributes:
    • Level 2 qualification in engineering related discipline
    • 6 Sigma Green belt qualification
    • Knowledge of good health and safety practice
    • Previous experience of a leadership role
    • Ability to define, monitor and implement actions to achieve KPI measures for the team
    • Ability to recognise training needs and implement training programs.
    • Good communication skills
    • Proactive team member who is keen to accept challenges

This position has a starting salary of £28,978 per annum.  The successful applicant will work a 37.5 hour week. Hours of work to be agreed with the successful applicant.
