LEVEL 3 ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING APPRENTICESHIP x2

TDK is a supplier to some of the most diverse, technology based and original equipment manufacturers worldwide including global organisations within the Industrial, Medical and Test & Measurement markets.

An exciting position has arisen for two Electrical Engineering Apprentices working within the TDK-Lambda UK Customer Service Department. The apprenticeship will involve working as part of a team to become proficient in the understanding of electrical/electronic circuits and manufacturing within the power electronics industry.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:

• Investigating electrical/electronic defects
• Diagnosing electrical/electronic faults at a component level and completing fault reports
• Carrying out necessary repairs
• The validation and testing of Power Supply Units up to 15KW
• Working in tandem with various engineering disciplines throughout the facility.

The successful candidates will spend designated periods within various departments throughout the organisation to gain a thorough understanding of TDK design, test and manufacturing processes. The planned training schedule will enable the candidate to become established in electrical and electronic failure analysis with an excellent component level understanding of power supply topologies and ancillary circuits. Furthermore, as TDK-Lambda UK Customer Service Department is part of the wider Customer Systems technical support group, there will be the opportunity to be involved in customer site visits, system testing and troubleshooting.

Working week:                 Monday – Thursday 07:30 – 16:30 / Fridays 07:30 – 12 noon
Course:                             EAL L3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering             (Electronics) (day release at Petroc) 24 – 30 months
Skills required:                 Computer literate, ability to work as part of a team, manage workload and prioritise tasks, able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Qualifications required:   GCSE Maths and English at grade 4/5 or grade C (or above). GCSE Physics would be desirable but not essential
Salary:                               Starting salary will be £18,340 per annum in line with internal apprenticeship pay structure.

Preferred start date: Summer 2026.
